We Believe
Berea Baptist Church exists to honor God through Christ-centered worship, biblical preaching and teaching in an expositional fashion, personal and relational evangelism and discipleship, warm, friendly Christian fellowship, and gracious Christian service.
We believe the Bible is God's inspired revelation of Himself to all people. Inspiration extends to every word of the Bible so that the entire Bible is without error and is completely reliable. The Bible is the only authority for our faith and conduct.

We believe God is one, eternally existing as one in His essence yet three in His persons. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are eternal in being, identical in nature and equal in power and glory.

We believe man was created in the image of God and without sin. However, when Adam transgressed God's command, sin entered the world, destroyed man's relationship with God and resulted in the spiritual and physical death of all people.

We believe salvation is a free gift of God's grace through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. All who receive Jesus as personal Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become God's children from that moment and forever.

We believe salvation is a one-time event achieved at the moment of the believer's conversion to Jesus Christ. However, sanctification is the continuing process of the believer's gradual transformation into the likeness of Jesus Christ as he is submissive to Him and will find its fullest expression when the believer joins Jesus in heaven.

We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman in holy matrimony. We further believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between one man and one woman. Additionally, we believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex. We also believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one's gender by surgery or appearance.

We believe in the personal and bodily return of Jesus Christ, first into the air to rapture all believers, and then to the earth after the seven year tribulation period to reign for one thousand years with all believers. His reign will be followed by the resurrection and judgement of all unbelievers and their subsequent punishment in the lake of fire forever. Finally, Christ will create new heavens and a new earth after which the holy city, New Jerusalem, will descend from heaven, and all believers will live with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit forever in eternal bliss.
